    Dream Tour to Florida

    12.26

We (4 guys and 3 gals) departed from Rolla in the early morning and expected to arrived in Orlando before midnight. However, due to the traffic jam in Nashville, which stopped us about 3 hrs, we spent almost 24 hrs getting our destination. When we hit bed, it's almost 5 am, 12.27.

    12.27

    Universal Studio

It's our first shot in Orlando theme parks. Every one of us was exiced, although we went through a long drive the day before. We wisely made up our minds to buy the express ticket, with which we avoid long and boring queues, even though it costs 110 bucks each. What impressed me most are 4-D movie Shrek, Back to the future, and the ride 'Revenge of the mummy', and the Fear Factor live show. Although it's not my frist time to take 4-D or 3-D movie, I have to admit that the movies shown in Universal Studio is uncomparable.

Revenge of the mummy gave us a great shock. With respect to roller coster, it may not catch up with those in Six Flags, but the background settings and decorations in the house are very vivid which brought us into the cursed mummy world. Fantastic!

Fear Factor is a TV program which I bet nobody is unfamiliar with. When we saw the competitors in walk distance drank the smashed bugs, splanch with sour milk, we were totally shocked.

We left the park around 8 pm and rushed to Miami without dinner.

    12. 28

Miami South Beach and KeyWest night life

When I got up, I can feel the tropical Miami from the sunshine, the moistrous wind, the high palm trees, and numerous topless girls on the beach. It's my first time to catch a view of Atlantic Ocean, it's pretty cleaner than the sea I visited before.

Keywest is the island at the south corner of Florida. We tasted the 25 buck seafood buffet in a 'cyber famous' resteraunt, but I should say it could be better. There were a great number of bars and night clubs in the downtown, with various kinds of live bands performing there, also with various visitors from different countries. We stopped by a bar, but with certain reasons, just spent 10 minutes there. If possible, I'd like to spend one more week in Keywest to enjoy night life there.

We went back around 1 am and were planning to get up arond 5am for Dry Tortugas NP journey the next day. It's my first time to share one room with other 6 friends together. It's a miracle.

    12. 29

    Dry Tortugas

We nearly lost the opportunity to get on the island of Dry Tortugas 80 miles from Keywest, coz the seats were not available. But thankgoodness, we finally made it for someone else quit.

When we stepped onto the soft white sand beach of Dry Tortugas, we were totally amazed by the Caribbean ocean view. The sea was so transparent that it looks green when it's shallow, while blue when deep. When snorkeling around the island, we actually swam among colorful coral, tropical fish, and various underwater plant, just like we watched on TV program before. It's my first experience of snorkelling. I were not an experienced swimmer, and got a taste of the sea water. Gosh, it's incredibly salty.

When getting  back, we encountered T-Storm, the boat we took vibrated all the way along. Most of the guys on board got sick. Although I sticked for a while, I could not help getting sick at last.

we left Keywest to Orlando without dinner that evening and checked in hotel at the early morning.

    12.30

    Sea World

the show called "Believe" impressed me most. The ponderous killer whales, Shamu, could even jump out of water and intentionally poured water to the audience. Moreover, it told us a moving story about heritage of love and passion to the job of shamu protection. Everything is so perfect. So other shows like dophin shows and sea lion shows also appealed me. What's more, we took a water ride there, even though no express ticket this time, and went through a long queue.

    12. 31

    Disney- Magic Kingdom

We spent our last day tour in one of the Disney theme parks, also the famous one, Magic Kingdom. The park is absolutedly very luxious. We even had to change two trains to get the gate of the park. Although Magic Kingdom is designed for kids, we could find out something for fun there. Cuz it's the last day of 2006, innumerable visitors came there so as to wait the new year coming together.

We followed our plan to visit Tomorrow Land first, where we got the famous in-door roller coster called "Space Mountain". The train twisted and turned in the universe background. A large number of stars shined around. It felt like space flying or time travelling. Amazing!

In the afternoon, we got a sight of parade of disney cartoons. Wow, snowwhite is absolutely gorgeous.  Mickey and Donald are so so so cute!

At night, we went through the count-down in the front of the castle of cinderella. The firework show celebrated of the birth of a new era. I never saw a firework show like this before! Great!

Thanks for all the friends accompany... You re all nice.
    17 December

    final week = nighmare week

I went through so-called 'final week' and experienced multiple torturing by 2 finals, and a project. Years before, when I learned from BBS that students abroad always pulled night oil cramming for the tests, I just frowned and utterly disbelieved it. But in the past week, I stayed in the library from morning to 2 am preparing for the final PDE and the test of Convection, and Dr. Crosbie's Heat Transfer Project. Even worse is it's hard for me getting into sleep after hitting bed. I never imagined such sorta situation in China before. For the test of Convection, one part of the toughest course 'heat transfer', I took about 100 blank sheets for exercising and practising all the math derivation and formulas. Fortunately, again I got the highest grade in the class. ^_^ .

Anyway, the nightmare goes away. It's time to fancy and expect our journey to Florida during X'mas season...

What’s Going On…?

DVD “What’s Going On With Eason?”(全长30分钟),让乐迷可全程追击录音过程,还有三首主打歌新MV。

    Anyway, have a good holiday!

    C'est La Vie

Gosh, it turns to be chilly again today. Walking around the UMR campus, I am automatically fascinated by the colorful maple leaves fallin' on the long and lonely lanes. The whole world looks like doleful at that moment....

I expect anything funny gonna happen on this boring weekend, after a super busy week working on the super tough course midterm. But nothing looks interesting here. Only peaceful life goes on and on...

Last night, talked with Tiger more than 2 hours, and found both of us cherish and reminisce our easy, lazy but also colorful in the past, in HUST. He felt so depressed working in the damn Hua Wei. I wish he could cheer up, and find the best way to go for the future. However, it's apparent that everything can not go back. No matter how life becomes practical and cruel, some friendship between the best buddies aint gonna change.

Cards roll past Tigers for first Series win since '82

    Cong~~~

    Cardinals come through
By RONALD BLUM AP Baseball Writer

The St. Louis Cardinals celebrate after winning the World Series on Friday night.

ST. LOUIS (AP) - No Fall Classic, for sure.

Flatter than the Midwestern heartland and a flop in the TV ratings, this World Series crowned a champion that barely made it to the postseason and then had to survive rain and cold as much as the bumbling Detroit Tigers.
The St. Louis Cardinals will take it, though.

They beat the Tigers 4-2 in Game 5 on Friday night behind castoffs Jeff Weaver and David Eckstein and sore-shouldered Scott Rolen to wrap up their first Series title in nearly a quarter-century and 10th overall.

‘‘I think we shocked the world,'' Cardinals center fielder Jim Edmonds said.

Manager Tony La Russa's team had just 83 regular-season wins, the fewest by a World Series champion, and nearly missed the playoffs after a late-season slump.

But St. Louis beat San Diego and the New York Mets in the first two rounds, then won its first title since 1982 by taming a heavily favored Tigers team that entered the Series with six days' rest and still looked stale.

Detroit pitchers made five errors, two more than the previous Series record.

    The celebration

After closer Adam Wainwright struck out Brandon Inge for the final out, the ballpark erupted. Wainwright raised his arms in triumph, catcher Yadier Molina ran to the mound and the pair bounced off toward second base, where they were joined by teammates running from the dugout and the bullpen. Ace starter Chris Carpenter and injured closer Jason Isringhausen gave La Russa bear hugs.

Minutes later, fireworks filled the sky above the ballpark.

‘‘No one believed in us, but we believed in ourselves,'' said Eckstein, the 5-foot-7 shortstop who was selected Series MVP after batting .364.

St. Louis (83-78) almost didn't even make it to the postseason. The Cardinals had a seven-game NL Central lead with 12 to go but lost eight of nine before recovering to finish 1 1/2 games ahead of Houston, the defending NL champion.

Minnesota, in 1987, had set the previous low for wins by a Series winner, going 85-77.

‘‘The team that wins a world championship is the team that played the best,'' La Russa said.

A repeat of 1968's dramatic Tigers-Cardinals matchup - won by Detroit in seven games - ended on a cold night more suitable to football than baseball. The Tigers made two more errors, raising their Series total to eight - three by Inge, the third baseman, the rest by pitchers.

    Not well enough

‘‘We didn't play well enough,'' Tigers manager Jim Leyland said. ‘‘There's no excuse here. I don't really know what the reasons were.''

Eight of the 22 runs allowed by the Tigers were unearned, the most by a team since the 1956 New York Yankees against Brooklyn.

‘‘If you don't make the plays, you're going to lose - whether you're playing the Yankees or the junior varsity,'' Detroit closer Todd Jones said.

Detroit, which had won in three straight Series appearances since 1940, hit .199, the lowest in a five-game Series since the 1983 Philadelphia Phillies, with the averages of key players shrinking with the temperature. ALCS MVP Placido Polanco was 0-for-17, Magglio Ordonez 2-for-19 (.105), Craig Monroe 3-for-20 (.150) and Ivan Rodriguez 3-for-19 (.158).

‘‘We just never got the bats going,'' said Rodriguez, stating the obvious.

It was the National League's first title since the 2003 Florida Marlins.

La Russa, who led the Oakland Athletics to a sweep in the earthquake-interrupted 1989 Bay Bridge Series, joined Sparky Anderson (Cincinnati and Detroit) as the only managers to win Series titles in each league.

‘‘I have such a respect and affection for Sparky,'' La Russa said. ‘‘It's such a great honor. He should really have this alone.''

    Yearned for title

La Russa, who took over as Cardinals manager in 1996, had yearned for a title in this tradition-rich baseball town.

‘‘I just saw Bob Gibson,'' he said about a half-hour after the final out. ‘‘When you're around here, especially if you're around here for a while, I just don't feel you can join the club unless you can say you won a World Series. Now we can say this group can join the club.''

While the Tigers had fielding problems, the Cardinals were mostly crisp, with the notable exception of right fielder Chris Duncan, who dropped a fly ball just before Sean Casey's two-run homer in the fourth put Detroit ahead 2-1.

St. Louis had gone ahead on Eckstein's infield single in the second, with Inge making a diving stop over the bag but throwing the ball low and wide to first.

‘‘It's the atmosphere that can get you a little tight,'' Inge said. ‘‘It's the biggest stage in the world for baseball. It can make some nerves, get people a little jittery.''

Casey, who batted a Series-high .529, homered for the second straight night, but St. Louis came right back to take a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the fourth as pitcher Justin Verlander threw away a ball for the second time in two starts. One run scored on the error and another on Eckstein's grounder.

‘‘I just threw it away. I had the wrong mind-set,'' Verlander said. ‘‘I picked it up and said to myself, ‘Don't throw it away,' instead of just picking it up and throwing it. I got tentative.''

Rolen, who led Cardinals' batters at .421, added a big run with a two-out RBI single in the seventh off reliever Fernando Rodney, extending his postseason hitting streak to 10 games.

It marked the first time since the 1912 Red Sox at Boston's Fenway Park that a team won the Series at home in a first-year ballpark.

As the Tigers failed in their bid for their first title since 1984, their season ended with Kenny Rogers rested and ready with no place to pitch. Rogers, who threw 23 shutout innings in the postseason, was saved by Leyland for a possible Game 6 in Detroit on Saturday.

Weaver, cast off by the Yankees three years ago after a World Series flop and dealt to the Cardinals by the Angels in July, allowed four hits in eight innings. He matched his season high with nine strikeouts and walked one before Wainwright finished for the save.

    too busy to update blog

just got no time to write more specifically about last trip to St. Louis and how my Halloween undergoes recently. I wish the god damn Heat Transfer midterm could finish tomorrow...
    07 October

A different sort of wonderful Mid-Autumn Day.

So glad that my American mom can stop by to enjoy this traditional Chinese festival. ^_^ . Little doggie Suzzi is pretty cute. I cant help recalling my little puppy at home... Anyway, although a little bit homesick sometimes especially on traditional festivals, the friends here really make my life wonderful.

    friends in memeory

In this chilly and lonely fall, I cant help recalling my friends and the colorful days they share with me before.
Here are some lyrics of songs 'bout friends once moving me greatly.

    by the Beatles

    Yesterday,
All my troubles seemed so far away,
Now it looks as though they're here to stay,
    Oh, I believe in yesterday.

    Suddenly,
I'm not half the man I used to be,
There's a shadow hanging over me,
    Oh, yesterday came suddenly.

    Why she
Had to go I don't know, she wouldn't say.
    I said,
Something wrong, now I long for yesterday.

    Yesterday,
Love was such an easy game to play,
Now I need a place to hide away,
    Oh, I believe in yesterday.

    Why she
Had to go I don't know, she wouldn't say.
    I said,
Something wrong, now I long for yesterday.

    Yesterday,
Love was such an easy game to play,
Now I need a place to hide away,
    Oh, I believe in yesterday.

    Mm-mm-mm-mm-mm-mm-mm.

( It reminds me the fall three years ago, we scored in an performance show. Glory isnt matter any more, but friendship always haunts me. how come the past time is always the most precious? )

( This song really tells a common phenomenon between friends. years past by, friends staying by our sides change from time to time. It may be a long time since contacting with the some of the most closed buddies. Since we are no rivals, how come no communication now, how come the feeling before never ever comes back. Sometimes we just look forward to getting back to the past or at least to stay again with our long lost friends...)

    by Restless Heart

    Once upon a long ago
Someone touched my heart and soul, my life
You and I were meant to be
Was I just to blind to see the light in your eyes

    (CHORUS)
    Long, lost friend
    So good finding you again
I curse the fool I've been for drifting away from you
    Though I lost my way
You've been strong enough to stay
    Faithful to the end
    Long, lost friend

    Seasons change and people too
I'm so glad that I had you out there
Through the rise and through the fall
Even when I'd lost it all
You cared like no one else

    (REPEAT CHORUS)

    Though I lost my way,
You've been strong enough to stay
    Faithful to the end
    Long, lost friend
    So, good finding you again
I'll be faithful to the end
    Long, lost friend

    Another week passed by...

During the past week, I cant manage to surf on the internet. Everyday life is fulfilled with lectures, papers, TA assisgnment, homework and some errands.  Whenever getting access to internet, just check emails and MSN for a short while. I cant help looking back to the relaxed way of life years ago, everyday watching Kangxi Coming, Lost, TVB sitcoms, and chatting on QQ...

Before getting to U.S., I heared that it's quite tough to study abroad, always struggling to the midnight to do the homework or research. I just couldnt image it b4.  However, at present, I am myself living a life like that.

Worse is that even it's weekend now, there's nothing to do for fun in this tiny town.

    Expecting another week's coming...
    01 September

    Hate can turn into love?

As I said b4, the course " Intermediate Heat Transfer" is really tough. Except meeting 3 times a week, and taking homework after each single lecture, a programming bonus homework is assigned for " Labor's Day" celebration. Gosh.

No doubt, I feel so sick and tired of this course. It takes at least 4 hours to review the lecture and do the homework every single day. Sometimes to study how to solve a 4 order non-linear differential equation, sometimes to look for information about a never-learnt function on internet, sometimes even have to resort help to the Indians. Even more funny, I almost go to instructor 's office everyday to ask him how to solve this problem, what the hint of that one, my answer right or not...  Oh, my, how can I do not hate this course?

But jesus, after getting used to it, I even found myslef couldnt go without torturing by it everyday. Aient it ture hate can turn into love?

This is a part of my labor day homework, to find positive zeros of the function (lines). ^_^

    Jay's updatest Album...

    A Brand NEW Week...

For the past one week, I've experienced my first semester in UMR. Although new experience in life affects me less intensively than years ago, I would like to leave down my first taste of American student life here before utterly losing life passion. ^_^

    1. 8.21, 9AM. FIRST TIME to take a course in U.S.

the course entitled " Intermediate Heat Transfer" was taught by an unbelievable tough professor in our department. It's said that it was one of the toughest course in UMR, equal to 3 normal courses. In the first class, various complicated math conduction were used to drive heat conduct equation, and some basic theories of heat transfer were applied without any explanation. U can imagine how hard it is for me to survive. To say, it's not a big problem to get most part of the lecture by the professor. Instead, the problem is that math equations seem buried deeply in my mind...^_^

    2. 8.21, 8PM. FIRST TIME to touch my first notbook IBM T60

one word: COOL. Although it went through various software problems ( seems that I'm so accustomed to fake windows OS ^_^), everything goes pretty well now. So here I am, putting down all of these words to u guys.

    3. 8.22, 2PM. FIRST TIME to attend my advisor's class

Two points should be mentioned. First is that if Heat Transfer is as the hell for me, then this course is absolutely a haven. My advisor is quite busy with his business, and obviously without making enuff effort on his course. ^_^ . So just reading blinds all the way ... u can imagine...
Another point it that his pronunciation just goes better than Indian guys... Haha, keep a secret for me. dont turn me in. Ok?

    4. 8.24, 9PM. FIRST TIME to be a TA.

I guess I was a little bit nervous at the beginning of orientation. Anyway, it's my first time to stand in front of 16 American undergraduates to make a speech about the course and give instructions.  'Cuz rehearsing the orientation process several times the day before, everything went smoothly. American students are pretty nice and smart. When I was putting down my name and email on the blackboard before the class, they immediately stop talking and draw out notebooks to take notes. it 's impossible in China. ^_^ I hope I can get along well with them later.

    5. 8.25, 11:30AM, FIRST TIME to experience power-off in U.S.

American is never short of energy, however, the whole campus was out of power for about one hour. How come? It is due to the reason of storming weather. I'v never experienced storms in China before. What I can remember now is that whenever the power was off, we would get out of the office to make small talks with a large gang of guys. Once we even went for Karaok. In one word, it was our happiest moment whenever the power was gone.

    6. 8.25, 12:15AM.  FIRST TIME to dine out with an American friend

It's very interesting to get a chance to hang out with an American friend. It's not easy to find an American friend here, not to say, get involve into their life circle. I really hope I can crack into their world from this friend. We took lunch at Subway. Although no delicious chinese food there, only a 6-inch sandwich was taken, it's still a nice experience to talk with him about resteraunts around here, about research field, about future plan... The tough thing is that I can just manage to pop out one or two sentences during his long speeches. I found that it's not quite difficult to communicate with them when carrying along a specific goal. However, when chatting without aims, their way of expressing always renders me into confusion. Also, I can hardly speak as fast as them. really sucks.

    7. 8.26, 11:00AM, FIRST TIME to go to barber in America

Three of us went to a barber hosted by a Korean lady. we r not sure which one is better when wandering around downtown. So we follow an local American's advice. I shall say, what she has done is just so so. however, $11 was required. Gosh, I prefer to have my hair cut in China. With 5-10 RMB, they will do a good job.

In the last week, I experience various new things, and most of them were not put it up here.

And without many Chinese friends' help here, I can not take an easy and comfortable way of life here in states. thanx. God bless u all.

This set of photos were taken just before I leave HUST. Although it's not long ago, it seems that it's quite far away from the point I am standing right now. Unconciously opening the folder of this album, the colorful past time flushes on me. The office I stay in for 3 years, the classroom  accompany with me in those boring GRE and TOEFL years, the canteen without a familiar face when I leave, the grave C12 under the summer sunshine, the lonely playground where I try my first kick on football, the badminton quart which helps me lose weight, the flourish lotus blossom in lakes, the gloomy scene out of the window of 6th floor, and my bicycle under my feet tended to require me not to go....

    However, nothing will come back...

New semester is on the way

since living in such as a relaxed way of life, I am sure whether I can survive the coming study and working pressure. Anyway, I'll do my best, also wish you my dear friend to enjoy the following brand new semester and brand new day. ^_^
    15 August

I am in the seventh heaven

After couple of weeks struggle, I finally passed the TA presentation assessment today. Although in some parts, I suppose myself behaving somewhat nervous and uneasy, on the whole, it was ok. The thing I felt a little bit embaressed was that I didn't know how to respond at all when the professors from my department asked me two questions. So I gave him some shit. ^_^

Also, about announcement part, my brain just didnot work when moving the card away. After several seconds, I blurt our words. Wow, I should say that totally sucks. Luckily, I got most of questions of the video part. Although it was supposed to be the most hard section. I could make a quick responses except for two of them. Thanks to the help of my friend Jia Guo, your file is really a magic stone, man. And Peter Guo, thank you for keep speaking english with me.
    11 August

what I'm experience now is what I never experienced b4

Since first arrival at Rolla on 7.21, I experienced a new life in a brand new country, however, without excitement or curiosity in life. I even did not exactly feel that Chinese is minority here. Probably, most of the time, I was surrounded by a crowd of Chinese friends, thus encountering little problems. Probably, as aging, life goes on without passion and turns to boring. I really dont wanna everything goes that way.

However, during recent days, TA workshop couse really shocked me somehow culturally. Most of the classmates are American natives or Indian. Although sometimes it's hard to grasp every specific word native speaker utters, and to understand their culture, the feeling of staying abroad shocked me constantly, somehow with strangeness. Today, the practice session of TA presentation was held. It was a great fun to express ideas to a gang of American and Indians. Seldom enuff chances for me to express ideas in front of a group of people. According to Irina, I performed ok. But native speaker's kool pronounciations and interation skills make me envy them quite much. I hope I can do the same oneday.
